This is amazing and a rare opportunity for any Scout… a new Troop with the YMCA as it’s chartered organization! Wow! And more important the founding Scouts will a have a ton of influence in the development of the culture and direction of this new Troop as it forms and grows.
Please join us in this new adventure in Scouting for an afternoon of hiking, fellowship, and good conversation, while the new Scouts of Troop 505 walk you through the requirements to earn your Geologist Badge.
We hope to see you there! Troop 505 will be there rain or shine!
This new Troop is going to be our Orange District Centennial Troop in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. In fact, the YMCA was the first charter partner of the very first boy scout troop in Chapel Hill in 1912 (Troop 5) and Troop 39 and Troop 9 both claim roots to this Troop. Troop 505 was named in honor of Troop 5. Many graduates of the boy scout program attribute their success to what they gained from their time in a Boy Scout Troop. I encourage you to join Boy Scouts and to be a part of this Centennial Troop.
Troop 505 meets at the Meadowmont YMCA, 301 Old Barn Road, Chapel Hill, NC every Wednesday from 7-8pm. Boys 11-18 are encouraged to attend anytime.
Please spread the word about this new scouting opportunity to anyone you think might be interested. If you are interested in getting involved or have any questions, please contact me, Robert West (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mike Byerley(email@example.com).
