Orange District Good Turn Resource Website

We hope all the Scouts of Orange District had a fantastic summer and hopefully had the opportunity to complete or at least work on a summer service project listed on

If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, we would like to take this opportunity to remind all of Orange District about one of your newest resources:

From the modest launch at the beginning of summer, many additional organizations have contacted our District to put their non-profit needs in front of our units. And many of our units have risen over the summer break to complete quite a few of the projects listed.

Orange District Good Turn ( is a dedicated online resource maintained by the Boy Scouts of America Occoneechee Council Orange District Committee. This online resource was specifically designed for our Orange District Scouts, Scouters, Packs, Troops and Crews looking for Scout Service Projects located within our Orange District community. All of the projects listed would make great community service projects for your units and some of these are big enough to qualify as Eagle Projects should some Scout find the project fits. So, please make sure all the Scouts and adult leaders in your unit get this email and have access to your newest Orange District community service resource.

The majority of the benefitting organizations listed on this online resource have a long standing relationship of mutual respect and mutual service for our Orange District Scouting family. We encourage all our units to use this resource on a regular basis so that the Scouting pledge to service may have a significant, lasting impact within our community and for the benefitting organizations that have given much to Scouting over the years.

If you know a non-profit organization based in Orange, Durham or Chatham County that has a potential Scout project you would like to have listed on this website for consideration by our Scout volunteers, we welcome your submission. All submissions for projects are posted within 24 hours of Orange District Committee approval and should be submitted by request to your District by the community organization requesting service. Please contact Robert Shaw West, Orange District Program Chair, at for more information.
