Our next Troop meeting will be held Sept 7th at the Meadowmont YMCA. During this meeting we will continue work on our BSA God and Country Youth Religious Knot. Scoutmaster West will discuss the process to complete the BSA God and Country program and it will be up to the individual Scout to work closely with a mentor that shares their faith to actually complete the program. The God and Country is mostly a personal discovery of one’s faith centered around a series of written and creative exercises that will require 6-7 2-hour sessions alone, with your mentor and together as a Troop to complete successfully. The first of these 6-7 sessions was held at our Aug 3rd Troop meeting. This will be a significant commitment. I hope everyone will find this next meeting of value and work towards earning this honorable award. Fees for supplies and required materials will be around $10 per interested Scout.
Any Scout not interested in this Knot or those who already have this Knot should plan to work on their Eagle Projects. Eagle Project Mentors will be attending this Troop meeting and at the disposal of our Eagle Project Scouts.
Our Personal Fitness Merit Badge Counselor will be at our meeting from 7:30-8pm to review requirement progress for any Scout working on this Merit Badge.
Our last meeting at the YMCA will be Wednesday September 14th from 5:30-7:30pm, when the YMCA will be opening the swimming pool for a private Scouting farewell party. Troop 505 will be supplying a pizza dinner. I hope everyone can attend!
After our regular Troop meeting, any Scout planning to attend the Uwharrie National Forest Trek on Sep 24-25 will need to plan on sticking around for an additional 30 minutes to start planning trip logistics.
Our regularly scheduled PLC will follow our Troop meeting from 7:30-8pm.
