Troop 505 Salt Water Fishing Expedition Specs May 10-12


Troop 505 is heading to the coast for a weekend of fun.  Scouts will camp on shore and have an opportunity to fish from the docks, tour the NC aquarium, and walk a few trails around the Fort Fisher.  Scouts will prepare meals as a Troop for this trip instead of by patrols.  New Scouts will have ample opportunities to learn cooking techniques from more experienced scouts.  Learn more about the NC aquarium at


Camping: $10-15

Food: $ 20 ($4 Friday dinner, $3 Saturday Breakfast, $4 Saturday Lunch, $4 Saturday Dinner, $5 Sunday Breakfast)

Travel: $16-22

Miscellaneous: $8 (aquarium fee), fishing gear rental (optional), pocket money for souvenirs


Scouts should be prepared for windy weather, possible rain showers, and cool nights.  Along with the gear listed under the essentials on the Troop 505 website Scouts will probably want to bring a daypack to hold sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, water, and snacks.  Good walking shoes are also a must for this trip.  Scouts should bring fishing gear if they intend to fish on Saturday.  Scouts should bring both their class A and class B uniforms (Troop 505 T-shirt).


Friday May 10th

4:30pm- depart from American Legion.  Scouts should eat something before they leave on the trip since we will not eat dinner until later in the evening.

7:45pm- arrive at National Seashore, set up camp, eat dinner as a Troop.

10:00pm- lights out

Saturday May 11th

7:00am- wake, breakfast as a troop, clean up breakfast

8:15am- head to beach to fish or enjoy the view

12:00am- lunch as a Troop

12:45pm depart for Aquarium

1:30pm- arrive at Aquarium

5:15pm- depart from Aquarium

6:00pm- arrive at camp, dinner as a Troop, clean up

7:30pm- TBA by Scoutmaster (includes “scary story”)

10:15pm- lights out

Sunday May 12th

7:00am- wake, break down camp, prepare for departure

7:45am- Scouts own (class A uniforms)

8:15- depart for American Legion, breakfast on way home

~12:00pm- arrive at American Legion
