The ScoutmasterOverview

Troop 505 will head to Jordan Lake for a fun weekend of scout activities, and an “Iron Chef” style cook-off on Saturday evening. What will the secret ingredient be this year? What new culinary skills have the scouts developed since the last IRON SCOUT competition? Will a new patrol unseat the reigning IRON SCOUT champion??? Jordan Lake is a favorite local destination for many people in the Triangle Area. Learn more about Jordan Lake State Park at: http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/jord/directions.php . Equipment

This trip will be Troop 505’s first “autumn” campout of the year. Temperatures are cooling off and scouts must prepare for variable weather conditions. Scouts will want to bring the 15 camping essentials listed on the Troop 505 website. Scouts may want to think about the all-important cook wear and ingredients for the 3rd Annual IRON Chef SCOUT cook-off. Lastly, scouts will need their class A uniforms for the Scouts Own on Sunday morning.

Competition

Scouts will want to think about spices and cooking tools they might need for the competition that they might not normally use in camp cooking. A cutting board, spices, extra pots could be useful for the competition. Scouts will not only need to create a “winning meal” for the judges, but this meal will also serve as part Saturday’s dinner.
