Troop 505 was the Orange District’s Centennial Troop in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. In fact, Troop 5 was the very first boy scout troop in Chapel Hill in 1912 (Troop 5) and Troop 39 and Troop 9 both claim roots to this Troop. Troop 505 was named in honor of Troop 5. Many graduates of the boy scout program attribute their success to what they gained from their time in a Boy Scout Troop. I encourage you to join Boy Scouts and to become a part of Boy Scout history in Chapel Hill as a member of the Centennial Troop 505.

Troop 505 meets at the American Legion Post 6, 1716 Legion Road, Chapel Hill, NC every Wednesday from 7-8:30pm. Boys 11-18 are encouraged to attend anytime.

Please spread the word about this new scouting opportunity to anyone you think might be interested. If you are interested in getting involved or have any questions, please contact Scoutmaster West (troop505@earthlink.net).
